Gas Detection: Fundamentals

The following course will teach the basics of Gas Detection. Participants will leave with an understanding of why gas detection systems are used, the categories of hazardous gasses, the different types of sensors, how a complete system operates, and various applications.


Direct Fired Heating: Fundamentals

High Temperature Heating & Ventilation (HTHV) is a technology class of products established by the Department of Energy (DOE) with the goal of increasing the energy efficiency of heating equipment throughout the US.  Participants will learn the fundamentals of HTHV technology and how it should be applied in facilities.

Energy Recovery Ventilators: Fundamentals

Energy recovery ventilation (ERV) is the energy recovery process of exchanging the energy contained in normally exhausted building or space air and using it to treat (precondition) the incoming outdoor ventilation air in residential and commercial HVAC systems. Participants will know how to properly design ERV’s systems and where to apply them.


Infrared Heating: Fundamentals

Heat energy can be transmitted from one body to another by convection through air or conduction through a solid but only heat transfer by infrared wave transmission suffers no losses to the medium (the air) through which it passes. This course will teach the basics of infrared design and technology.


Vehicle Exhaust System: Fundamentals

An exhaust system must be carefully designed to carry toxic and/or noxious gases away from the users of the machine. Indoor sources of combustion can quickly fill an enclosed space with poisonous exhaust gases such as hydrocarbonscarbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides, if they are not properly vented to the outdoors. This course will teach how to design a source capture system


Make Up Air & Ventilation: Fundamentals

Make-up air is designed to “make up” the air in your interior space that has been removed due to process exhaust fans. This type of HVAC solution pulls in fresh, tempered air from outside your building to replace existing air that cannot be recirculated. This course teaches the basics of Make Up Air design.


HVLS Fans: Fundamentals

We explore how HVLS fans can increase thermal comfort and provide a silent and elegant design strategy. We discuss how to save energy and improve indoor air quality in facilities. Explain how HVLS fans provide a creative design solution that moves large amounts of air to cool building occupants, maintain thermal comfort, and support ventilation strategies.
